1. The Platform
FireShare is a community marketplace where users (“Members”) may discover, download, purchase, and share digital CNC and fabrication project files.
Listings are created by independent creators (“Sellers”), who retain ownership of their designs and are solely responsible for the content, accuracy, and license terms of their Listings. Sellers are independent creators, not employees or agents of Langmuir.
For paid Listings, Langmuir is the merchant of record: purchases are processed by Langmuir through our payment partner, Stripe; your payment receipt will identify Langmuir; and Langmuir administers refunds, chargebacks, and applicable transaction taxes as described in these Terms. Langmuir then remits the Seller’s share of each sale as described in Section 6.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Platform. If you use the Platform on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business to these Terms. You may not use the Platform if you are barred under applicable law or if we have previously suspended or terminated your account.
3. Accounts & security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at langmuirsystems.com/support if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, pose a security risk, or harm the community.
Member accounts are free. Seller payout setup through Stripe Connect is optional and only required if you wish to receive payments for paid listings.
4. Listings, uploads, and licenses
When you upload a project (“Listing”), you represent and warrant that:
- You own the Listing or have all rights needed to publish and license it;
- Your Listing does not infringe any third-party intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights;
- Your Listing accurately describes the files, materials, machines, and license you select;
- Your files are free of malware and do not contain hidden or unrelated content;
- If your Listing includes 3D scan data, it does not capture identifiable individuals without their consent.
Each Listing must declare a license type (for example, free community use under a Creative Commons license, or a commercial license). Buyers receive only the rights stated on the Listing. You may not mislabel license scope or price. Langmuir may review, approve, reject, remove, or modify Listings at any time to protect buyers, sellers, or the Platform.
5. Purchases, pricing, taxes & refunds
Prices are shown in U.S. dollars. Paid Listings are processed through Stripe. By completing a purchase, you authorize Langmuir and our payment partners to charge your selected payment method for the displayed price plus applicable fees and taxes.
Taxes. Where required by law, Langmuir will calculate, collect, and remit sales tax, use tax, or similar transaction taxes on purchases. Collected taxes are shown at checkout. You remain responsible for any taxes we are not legally required to collect.
Delivery. Digital goods are delivered electronically; you receive download access upon successful payment through your account’s purchase history.
Refunds. Because digital files cannot be returned, all sales are final except that Langmuir may, at its discretion, issue a refund or replacement where:
- (a) the delivered file is corrupt, incomplete, or materially unusable;
- (b) the Listing materially misdescribed the files, formats, machines, or license delivered;
- (c) the purchase was an accidental duplicate of a prior purchase; or
- (d) a refund is required by applicable law.
Refund requests must be submitted within 14 days of purchase through langmuirsystems.com/support. Refunds granted under this section may be deducted from the applicable Seller’s payout as described in Section 6. Abuse of the refund process (for example, requesting refunds after retaining and using files) may result in account suspension.
6. Seller payouts, platform commissions & Stripe Connect
Sellers who list paid projects must complete Stripe Connect onboarding, including identity verification and bank account setup as required by Stripe and applicable law. Payout timing, reserves, and compliance requirements are governed by Stripe’s terms and our seller program rules displayed in the seller dashboard.
FireShare charges a platform commission on each paid sale. The commission is calculated as a percentage of the listing price paid by the buyer (before tax, if any) and is deducted from the seller’s payout through Stripe Connect. The rate applied to a sale depends on the seller’s tier at the time of that transaction and is permanently recorded on the order. Your tier and the commission for each sale are shown in your seller dashboard.
Current seller tiers and platform commission rates:
| Seller tier | Lifetime paid sales on FireShare | Platform commission |
|---|---|---|
| New | Starting tier | 15% |
| Established | $1,000 or more | 12% |
| Top seller | $5,000 or more | 8% |
Tiers are based on your cumulative paid sales on FireShare. When your lifetime sales reach a higher threshold, your tier updates automatically and future paid sales use the lower commission rate shown for that tier. Langmuir may also assign or adjust seller tiers under the seller program.
In addition to the platform commission, Stripe charges payment processing fees on card transactions (currently estimated at 2.9% + $0.30 per sale). Those fees are deducted from your seller payout before funds are transferred to your Stripe Connect account. They are separate from the platform commission and are governed by Stripe’s pricing and Connect terms.
Langmuir may deduct platform commissions, payment processing costs, refunds, chargebacks, and adjustments from seller payouts, including as negative adjustments against future payouts where a payout has already been disbursed. You are solely responsible for reporting and paying taxes on income you earn through the Platform. Where required, tax information reporting (for example, IRS Form 1099-K) is handled through Stripe.
7. Prohibited conduct & content standards
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit;
- Upload files that constitute or contain functional firearm components, firearm frames or receivers, suppressor components, or other items whose manufacture, export, or distribution is restricted under applicable law (including U.S. export control regulations such as ITAR/EAR), or technical data controlled under those regulations. Decorative or artistic designs depicting weapons themes are permitted subject to the other content standards in this section;
- Upload content that promotes illegal activity;
- Circumvent access controls, scrape the Platform, or interfere with its operation;
- Resell, redistribute, or publicly share paid files except as permitted by the Listing license;
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with Langmuir or any creator;
- Manipulate ratings, downloads, favorites, or sales through bots or fraudulent transactions.
Langmuir may remove any Listing or content that, in our judgment, violates these standards or applicable law, and may report unlawful content to authorities where required.
8. Intellectual property
The Platform, Langmuir branding, and original Langmuir content are owned by Langmuir or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to Langmuir trademarks or proprietary materials except limited permission to use the Platform as intended.
Creators retain ownership of their Listings. By publishing a Listing, you grant Langmuir a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, display, reproduce, distribute, and promote your Listing on the Platform and in related marketing, solely to operate and improve FireShare.
9. Copyright complaints (DMCA)
Langmuir respects intellectual property rights and expects Members to do the same. If you believe content on the Platform infringes your copyright, send a notice complying with 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) to our designated agent:

We will terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. Misrepresentations in a notice or counter-notice may result in liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
10. Community features
Comments, favorites, reviews, and profile information must be truthful and respectful. We may remove content that is spam, off-topic, abusive, or violates these Terms. You grant Langmuir a license to display community content you submit in connection with the Platform.
11. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information — including account data, purchase history, and information processed by Stripe in connection with payments and seller onboarding — is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.
12. Disclaimers — files, machines, and safety
Project files are provided “as is.” Langmuir and sellers do not guarantee that any file will be error-free, compatible with your machine, material, software, or workflow, or suitable for your intended use. You are solely responsible for verifying dimensions, toolpaths, feeds and speeds, fixturing, and safety before cutting, welding, milling, printing, or otherwise fabricating.
CNC, laser, plasma, welding, and fabrication work involve serious hazards. Follow manufacturer instructions, local codes, and appropriate safety practices. Langmuir does not provide professional engineering, machining, or safety advice through the Platform.
13. Disclaimer of warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE PLATFORM AND ALL LISTINGS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LANGMUIR AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE PLATFORM OR ANY LISTING, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE PLATFORM WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) USD $100 OR (B) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO LANGMUIR FOR THE SPECIFIC TRANSACTION GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT.
15. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Langmuir and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your Listings, your use of the Platform, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
16. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violation of these Terms, legal compliance, risk management, or prolonged inactivity. You may stop using the Platform at any time. Upon termination of a Seller account, accrued payouts for completed sales will be disbursed in accordance with Section 6, less any deductions permitted under these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and indemnification.
17. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that exclusive jurisdiction for disputes arising from these Terms or the Platform resides in the state or federal courts located in Montgomery County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
18. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on the Platform, update the effective date above, and where appropriate notify account holders by email. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
